Sayer Home Noosa 2022

Sayers Home Boutique - Hastings Street Noosa

INTERIOR DESIGN +DOCUMENTATION + PROJECT MANAGEMENT

RDS were approached by New Zealand creative Jess Hitchcock to design the flagship store for her homewares boutique Sayers Home. The design intent for Sayers Home was to curate space that is as unique as the labels owner Jess represents, becoming a destination store worthy of the discovery tucked behind Noosa’s iconic Hastings Steet.

As a reflection of these local and international brands, the design resolve taped into euro design and the surrealist movement. A strong inspiration for many of SAYERS brands. The store aims to imbue the hero qualities of the mid-century design principles, with a contemporary tweak on a colour palette rooted in nature, earthy greens, bright yellows, woody browns, electric blue and deep clay reds. Remaining both current and timeless, the renovation of SAYERS HOME provided RDS an opportunity to create an impactful and meaningful design that re-imagines classic forms. As an early reference to form and feel Sophia & Jess discussed embodying Joan Miró’s 1949 The Sun (El Sol) through it’s colour and play on surrealist form. Drawing from Miró’s work, the shop aims to convey a true sense or artistry.

The inviting colour pallet has been drawn from Miro’s abstract painting. Warm tones of maroon create the backdrop of the fun and quirky colour pops of the objects and vessels that will feature in the store. Pops of cobalt blue, green, mustard and a checker pattern will feature in the fixed form.
